I love a boring life

I've always enjoyed winter - so much so that I am envious of the snow that gets dumped just south of our home, as in 30 minutes or so away. When the weather is bad, I drive only to work and back. Except for the one day last week. It was a snowy morning, and it seemed the plows had only been on the road once. My husband always makes sure I have a good car and tires for driving, but I could feel the tires slipping.

I live 10 minutes away from my job, and I travel down two long and tricky hills. After the first hill, I felt it was going to be ok and that I would make it. At the crest of the second hill, traffic was crawling to a stop as a semi truck was stuck on the hill. I almost rear ended the car in front of me. With only a few minutes to go before I would be sitting at my desk, I decided it wasn't worth it and turned around for home. I'm thankful for all the vacation time I have so that I can use a day out of the blue when I want one.

My husband has been riding the snowmobile as much as he can. Sunday afternoon I met him at Chautauqua Lake where we saw the castle made from lake ice. We met up again for a sandwich at one of the local warm-up stops. Happy Valentine's Day!

On the sewing and stitching front, I've been picking away at my BOM's. Audrey and I were in Erie last Saturday to check out the cross stitch shop and a new quilt shop.

There was some stress at work for a few weeks when I thought I would be moving to a different department. At this point I don't feel there will be a change. I'm ready to move if my boss needs me somewhere else; I just feel comfortable where I am and hope to stay where I really want to be.

I've been reading a lot of blogs and getting inspired. I been exercising and participating in a weight loss challenge at work. At this point, I'm wearing slacks I haven't felt comfortable in for a couple years. My weight loss isn't that tremendous; but I figure if I can lose a pound a week, that's good enough for me.

You can see my life isn't all that exciting, so I've had little to blog about. But I'm happy things are quiet for me now. God is good, and I am blessed.

I kind of like boring....or as I would rather say.....a vanilla life in a chocolate house. Everyone that lives here is a chocoholic except me! Give me my vanilla any day!

Your boring sounds just perfect to me Mary. I would love to give you all 30 inches of snow that is in my front yard if I could. Give me grass and sunshine anyday over snow!
Enjoy the weekend ahead.
Hugs,
AMY

Quiet is good, before we know it summer will have come and gone. It's nice to have time to be still.

Be well ~Andrea~

So glad you updated. I was coming here to tell you that I wanted to know what was going on in your neck of the woods. Will probably call tonight so stand by the phone.

Here is a tutorial of some fabric alaphabet letters I think someone little might like. I love them! Maybe you can add another project to your list. :)

Hi Mary, sure is great to see your post, I have missed you! I also have two hills that make me a "tad nervous" as I head out to the office on these snowy mornings...in all honesty I talk with God as I travel the hills, it works! Sometimes *boring* is good, gives us time to reflect! Did you like the new quilt shop you visited, I have been waiting to hear? Have a wonderful rest of the week and weekend! Blessings to you!

A pound a week is an excellent amount of weight to lose every week. You'll be less likely to gain it back than if you lost it quickly. And boring lives are fine - I don't leave the house for days sometimes - I find it more fun to just work on my crafts! Boring to some, but not to me.

So glad to hear that you weren't actually in an accident and that you can take time off when needed and it sounds like you need it for your mental health day too. Our office is only 5 people and if we call off unexpectedly unless we're hospitalized we hear about it!

Enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by for a visit today. I'm enjoying your blog. I also enjoy boring. Life moves as such a hectic place and there is always something new around the corner. Boring helps us prepare for that. Have a blessed day!

I do not call this boring, this is the gift of routine, with goals of weight loss, family love and more sewing, I'm sure! As a parent and teacher, one of my first goals for any day is consistency. What a joy it is to have it in our day to day lives. Thank you for sharing yours.
