What it means to be loved

So we have a new grandbaby girl in our family! Gianna Mary-Lynn was born this week to Jenny and Randy and weighed in at 5 pounds and 7 ounces. Needless to say, we are all excited! Isn't funny how somone so tiny who doesn't even know us can bring us so much happiness without even trying.

We have expected her to go home, but she has failed her car seat test twice. This test given to premature or small babies as their airways are not as strong as a fully-developed infant. It is given to make sure these airways do not collapse when the baby is in the semi-reclining position of the car seat. I guess you learn something new every day. Anyway, we are expecting Gia to be sent home sometime this evening.

This morning on my way to work, I heard a new song on the radio by Mark Schultz called 'What It Means to be Loved.' The song is about a newborn baby girl, and I've edited some of the lyrics. Grab a hankie.

I wanna give her the world
I wanna hold her hand
I wanna be her mom for as long as I can
And I wanna live every moment until that day comes
I wanna show her what it means to be loved

So we spent each day, watchin' every minute
And prayin' for our baby girl
And I will not forget the way I felt that moment
When she came into this world
But they took her from the room just as soon as she was born
And watchin' through a window I could see her holdin' on
When a voice inside me said...

I wanna give her the world
I wanna be her dad
I wanna hold her close for as long as I can
And I wanna live every moment until that day comes
I wanna show her what it means to be loved

I said everyday
We've got to bring her home
She's been out to prove the doctors wrong
Oh and you should see her now
She's as pretty as her mom
And there's a boy at the front door waiting just to take her to her high school prom...

And he wants to give her the world
Wants to hold her hand
And someday she may get a wedding band
But she's gonna live every moment until that day comes
And we're gonna show her what it means to be loved

Powerful message in those lyrics, yep I needed a tissue! Prayers for Gia, interesting about the "car seat" test, but with good reason I am sure! Prayers, hugs and blessings to you and your family, thinking of all of you!

Julie told me at Bible School that she was coming home before I left! And she explained the car seat test, which seemed a bit extreme, even for my big babies to have to endure!! Hope all is going well. I guess if I see Julie in SS, I'll know!!
Love the way songs speak to your heart!! I have played a song during our SS prayer time a few times and we just pray quietly to ourselves while the lyrics wash over us...most of the time I'm moved to tears at least once a song!!
