The wellness director at work has come up with a new idea to help keep us fit - walk 10,000 steps a day. This is a 12-week challenge; we are finishing week five today.
It has been a challenge for me to get that many steps in a day. I have had to work the switchboard at my job which leaves me very little time to step away from my desk. And then it has been beastly hot and humid in our area all summer long. I tried walking at lunch one day; but with temps in the 90's, I didn't feel well the rest of the day. Thank God for air conditioning and Leslie Sansone. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be back at my desk which will require me to walk farther to other departments, the copier, and the fax machine.
My goal has been to talk at least 10,000 a day; and I've been able to do it. Yesterday, I even logged 18,0002; but then it's easier on the weekends to commit to this. There are a few people who work in our factory that are logging 20,000+ steps a day as their jobs require them to literally be on their feet most of the workday. I don't expect to top them!
So after working all day and the extra exercise I'm doing, I have had little time in the sewing room. But stay tuned, I will have pictures soon of some quilts I've been finishing including a graduation quilt for a friend who went back to college, the 2 1/2" strip swap project my quilt group is working on, plus the watermelon quilt that was on the cover of Fons & Porter recently.

Cudos on the exercise-- your heart thanks you....All things in good time... steps are harder to take in the snow and the quilting will come easy then :)
Never seen a watermelon quilt that I didn't smile at... Looking forward to the pictures.
Oh my, I am tired just reading about your walking goals! My excuse is that it is just too hot, but that is really not a good enough reason! Have a wonderful week, try to stay cool! Blessings from my part of PA to you!
My niece's work is doing this challenge also. She came to stay with us for the weekend so I walked with her. We usually walk our little country road... but not as much as she needed! It was a good time though.
The thought is exhausting although I'm sure this body of mine could use it. Can I just live through you instead? :) Have a great day!
Your post is inspiring......what type of device do you have to count your steps? I need to get something that will encourage me to walk more.
I try and do the 10,000 steps a day too! Some days it can be a challenge but if I take a walk in the moring I get all the steps in. Looking forward to seeing the quilt projects!
Yeah - good for you on the 10k steps! I've been working on that myself - and I love Leslie (smile)! This is my first visit - I love the pretty quilts in your header! Very nice!
That Fons and Porter Watermelon quilt was on my To Do list for July, a perfect July project. I did not get to mine but am eager to see yours!
Congratulations on working so hard on your walking goal.
