Rainy day Saturday

What a great road trip yesterday - four quilt shops, one cross stitch shop, and two restaurants. Do we know how to pack a lot into a day or what!

First up was breakfast. Audrey ordered sweet potato pancakes with cinnamon butter. She shared a bite with me, and it was like a taste of heaven on earth. I googled a recipe, and you can find one here. If you like warm pumpkin bread, you will love these.

I picked up this fabric at the first shop:

Natalie loves Olivia the Pig (excuse me, she says Owivia), and I thought this would make a cute skirt for her. The stripe will be a ruffle just below the border.

In our quilt group, we give each member a fat quarter of fabric in her birthday month. Next month is Mary Lou's birthday, and she requested light pinks for background fabrics. I thought this would be perfect.

On my list of things I wanted to buy was fabric for a baby quilt for the little grandson who is arriving in early November. I've been thinking of red/cream/blue fabrics and an 8-point star pattern. I found these fabrics at the next shop:

Looking at my pattern last night, I realized I didn't have enough fabric and went out on the net to see what I could pick up. After thinking about another purchase, I decided to go through my quilt books and find a different pattern. Because the new baby will be the son of a farmer, I may go with a Hole in the Barn Door pattern.

It's pouring buckets of rain today. Larry won't be on the golf course, but he will be holding down the couch hoping the US Open will be played. It's been plagued by rain as well. After spending some quality time with my stripping wallpaper project, I'll be heading to the sewing room. I have an Owivia the Pig panel quilt started as a surprise for someone special, and I want to get it finished up and to the quilter's before I start on the quilt for her brother.

Hope your Saturday is special!
