A tornado touched down in my little town this week . . . as in on the back side of the block I live on.  I'm tucked into a townhouse apartment with neighbors on either side; and although I watched the rain beat on the living room window, I couldn't see how bad the wind was because the rain was so fierce.  The electric went on and off several times before I was shut off all together.

Around 1:00 a.m. someone was knocking on my door.  It was one of the volunteer firemen; they were going door to door checking to see if everyone was ok.  Don't you love small-town life?  It was then that I found out about the tornado.  And in the morning when I drove through town on my way to work, I could see all the damage.  Thank God we weren't as devastated as Oklahoma, but any damage and loss is upsetting no matter what the size.

I slept in my place both nights the electric was off but stopped at my daughter Jenny's on the way to work to shower and dry my hair.  The electric came back on yesterday afternoon.  I made up for lost time by running the washer and dryer, the sweeper, my phone, and the computer.

The firm I work for has Friday afternoons off during the summer months.  I love this job and where I work; what a great perk to have!  It'll be nice to get a jump start on the weekend today.

On my Pandora station, I'm listening to my newest channel - Louis Armstrong.  I was in a coffee shop last weekend, and the sweetest young girl had his channel playing.  My dad used to love Louis Armstrong, so now I've added this channel to my list of stations.  In talking with my sister and telling her about this, she told me her daughter listens to Frank Sinatra - music we used to roll our eyes to when Dad had it on.  What a wonderful world!

I'm sorry to hear of the tornado and glad you are ok. I have a Sinatra station on Pandora too. It's fun to have such variety, isn't it?

So glad you are ok! We've had so many tornadoes in our area the last few years and they are scary. We have been very fortunate.
I always loved Fridays off when I worked too!
Hugs,
Donna

Uh oh! Glad you were safe from the storm! It is bad here in Oklahoma but much relief is ongoing, much to be done. Thankfully, we and our family were safe throughout the week of bad tornadoes. No electricity is a little inconvenient but thankfully that is all you had to deal with.

I listened to the news of that tornado. I'm in California... can you believe it was on national news? I have lived in the mid-west before... so I have experienced that incredible force of nature before. I am so glad that you are alright.
I have always been a big jazz fan, so even now, my kids listen to Louis and all the greats. Fun. I didn't know about that radio station on Pandora... thanks for the heads up!
