Natalie goes to kindergarten!

Natie starts kindergarten tomorrow. To say our entire family is excited, is an understatement. She is Travis and Julie's first child, and our first grandchild. Everything she has done has captivated us and captured our hearts.

She has two years of preschool under her belt. To prepare her for kindergarten and before she graduated from preschool, she had to answer 205 questions about things she learned and needed to know. She correctly answered 204 of these questions and had the highest score her teacher ever saw with one of her students. Please bear with me, but I just had to brag.

The mother of Travis' best friend will be her bus driver, so there will be no hiccups as far as missing her bus stop or knowing where to drop her off on the days Julie and Travis will be working. She has been to the meet-and-greet and met her teacher. Some of her Sunday School friends will be in her class, but most of the children will be new to her.

Because kindergarten is an all-day affair, she was asked to bring a beach towel or small blanket for naptime. So I took time from my Hop to It block of the month and the wheelchair quilt projects to make nap mat for her. I used some leftover squares Julie had from the baby quilt she made for her friend Addie. The fabric is Sandy Gervais' line titled Lovely. I am really excited how this quilt turned out - perfect for a little girl.

So here's to the 42 students in the Class of 2015 and one special little girl! Have a great year.

I just LOVE this little quilt!! Great choice for you and Julie's selecting! I remember how I was so sure that my first would not want to leave me when I walked him over for his first day of school and he was deep into the classroom without me before I knew what hit me! I was the one feeling bad at the door!! Be thinking of her and her mom tomorrow morning!!

What a great idea to make her a quilt for this milestone! I fell of my chair though that little kids have to graduate from preschool... but she did a great job off course!!

hope she'll have a great kindergarten-time (it sounds very German to me)

That is the sweetest quilt, Mary and I don't blame you for taking time off from other projects to finish this. It's a big day for a little girl!

Oh how exciting for your family! It will be a very special day, and a year always remembered because Grandma has made a very special quilt! Wonderful Mary, and your label is perfect, speaks the love you have for your family, especially those special grandchildren. I love that you shared this with us, you are a special gal! Blessings to you my friend, from my part of PA!

Well-- I'm completely convinced that the ONE question she missed was a trick question they slipped in 'on purpose'.... With a Grandma like you-- and that quilt-- she is destined for greatness.... All quilts have their place.... you put yours in the right order;)

This just made me a little teary eyed. I can't beleive she is growing up so fast. I pray tomorrow is a great day for her and that she doesn't get nervous or shy. What a big girl. Love my little Natalie!

So so sweet. My girl has her first day of kindergarten tomorrow, also. I'm a wreck and it is only half-day. She's thrilled though, so I'll be waiting for her to return with a smile. :)

Good luck to your little one on her first day!

I just discovered your blog. I love the Iowa Girl quilt. I am going to have to look up that issue...I am an Iowa girl! The pie filling recipe is a keeper. I may still have that Farm Journal cookbook. They were my go-to cookbooks when I was first married.
