Olivia the Pig quilt and a mug mat

I am not a fan of pre-printed panels for quilts; but when Natalie started watching Olivia the Pig cartoons, I remembered this panel and coordinating fabric was featured in a quilting magazine a few years ago. A quick search of the internet, and I was able to get what I needed to make this quilt for her.

I used the leftover panel fabric for the binding. There were two squares left, and I used one to make a mug mat. I got my inspiration for the mat from Angela at Raggedy Owl. This is a new quilt blog that I have been reading, and it has become one of my favorites. Angela's taste in fabrics is totally different than what I buy, but I just love it. Everything she has shown on her block is fun and colorful. I just may be tempted to dive in and try something new!

Too cute!! I'm not familiar with many cartoon characters these days (sadly, no grandkids yet). However, when cruising thru the channels one day I saw Olivia and fell in love. She is so cute! (pssst... I watched almost the entire cartoon that day too.. lol). -Tammy

I love this!!!!Low stress -and a granddaughter that will love it--- what more do you need! OK-- close your eyes... think about it...I would have loved my Gramma doing that for me. May not have realized the appreciation until I was in my twenties-- but still....this is pretty awesome.

Mary, you make me want to watch Olivia the Pig now! The quilt is too cute! I liked the post about the hankie quilt; would have loved a picture of it, too. I have a new book on crazy quilting that I'm eager to crack open and do some projects. You're inspiring! :) Thanks!
