The nursing home where my mom lives is doing a remodel in one of their buildings. One of their newsletters had asked for donations of quilted wallhangings to help decorate a new hall, and I signed up. I think I'll hand quilt this little gem and give it in honor of Mom (who, by the way, would have thought I was nuts for fiddling with such tiny pieces!).

I saw a darling feathered star quilt the other day at Lea's blog and remembered I had started the same mini. Can you believe it - the directions call for a half yard of fabric. Now if you look at Lea's quilt (which is finished), I think you'll wonder where a half yard of fabric could possibly be used. That's what the sales girl thought at the quilt shop (who, I'm thinking, didn't sew the sample). I was trying to duplicate the shop sample because the colors were so great, but they didn't have enough of the background left. So I purchased what they had and eventually started the project only to find out I really did need the half yard! Darn! So I shelved the whole thing until I could figure out what to do.
