Hop to It - Block #4

If you are new to my blog, I've been working on a block of the month quilt with my online buddies Sue and Melanie. Be sure to check out their blogs for their versions of this month's block.

I'm a day late in posting because I've been working on other projects. I knew that I'd be on vacation today, so I decided to make my block and post it just a day behind. Melanie's block really inspired me, and I was excited to get going on mine. Except compare the two! Hers is rich with color, and mine looks anemic. I'm using Moda's Faded Memories fabric line. The colors are all soft and sweet. Actually, my block is really very pretty in real life; I just need to learn how to photograph better!

I have to blanket stitch around my pieces, and then I think I'll put the first row together. There are colored squares that will separate the appliqued blocks, so there will be some good color to spark this quilt. In the meantime, I have a couple buddies who can take better photographs for me. When the quilt top is finished, I'll have one of them take some great pictures to share.

Melanie's is pretty, but I think I like the colors of yours better...it's peaceful. I don't know if I mentioned it earlier...but I sure like your new header!!

Hi, Mary. I just found your blog and have been enjoying it sooo much. I love the quilts in your header, especially the one with the roosters (chickens?). What beautiful quilt! Did you make it? What pattern is it? I have to make that one so any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated. (Did I mention that I love that quilt?)
Thanks, Derin.

It is funny how our picture taking capabilities or our camera can totally change a picture. But don't worry Mary, you are definitely not alone, lol! I see gorgeous pictures taken with a point and shoot camera, no manual anything, all auto and I wonder why I can't do it too. Oh well. I still think your block is beautiful! It is going to be a gorgeous quilt when you get it all together... sounds like it is really pretty fabric!
