What I've been sewing....

I took Friday afternoon off from work and spent what should have been time just resting and relaxing doing what comes naturally - cleaning and getting reading for the weekend. I still have a lot of spring cleaning to do; but that job never seems to get caught up. So the cleaning and grocery shopping got done for the weekend, and then it was time to sew and stitch.

First up - this tote bag. I found the pattern here. The fabric is a linen tea towel my friend LuAnn picked up at an auction. I love anything with cherries, and she got me two of these. I'm sure she didn't expect me to make a tote; I love it!

Then I found this little stitched item in my stash. Jennifer stitched it for my mom years ago, and it never got made up into anything. I have a care plan meeting for Mom at the nursing home this week, so I made it into a cupboard hanger; and I'll stick it in her room somewhere.

Julie asked for a baby quilt for a shower she's attending this coming weekend, so I used Moda charm pack to make this easy quilt top. The colors are light pastels, and I had problems with the picture - hope you can visualize what I've done.

And finally I'm working on a red sampler that I saw on Blackbird Designs's blog. I'm going to stitch my grandmother's name and the year she was born. I'm almost done and I'll post a picture then.

I would say Mary that you made very good use of your "sewing time", good job and thanks for sharing! I love the stitchery that you finished up for your mom! The tea towel tote is clever, and the quilt is sweet! Even though you spent some time house cleaning, your mind must have been on sewing :>)!
